Our services to families include: Immunizations, WIC, breastfeeding support, home visiting services, child birth classes, birthing doula services, car seat installation, safe sleep, nutrition and safety education, communicable disease prevention and referrals to other family support services.

Mineral County Health Department is committed to promoting optimal health, supporting disease prevention and improving access to health services through an actively engaged community supported by quality Public Health services.

We are open Monday through Friday 9 am - 4 pm.

Certified Car Seat Installer

Description

Free assistance for car seat installation is available. Set up an appointment for a certified child passenger safety technician to install the car seat and provide training.

Nationally certified technicians are on staff to teach parents and caregivers all they can do to prevent unintentional injuries in and around cars. Call (406)822-3564 to schedule the following:

Parents as Teachers (PAT) Home Visiting Services

Description

Parents as Teachers is a family engagement program. This program is free and available to all Mineral County families during pregnancy and with children ages newborn through kindergarten completion. Our certified parent educators support parents/caregivers in their roles as their child’s first and most important teacher by providing the following: Family engagement activities; child screenings including vision, hearing, and both physical and social emotional development; and family/community resource connections. Our program strives to support families with tools and resources needed to anticipate child development needs and approach parenting with confidence.

Doula Support Services

Description

Free doula services are available to pregnant people within Mineral County through the Mineral County Health Department.

A doula is a trained professional who provides non-medical support to pregnant people and their families before, during, and after childbirth:

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Food Program

Description

MCHD offers this supplemental nutrition program for income-eligible families, pregnant through age five. Services include healthy food, nutrition information, breastfeeding support, and connection to community resources.
