Description

Provides information on Emergency Housing Assistance and Section 8.

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Montana Department of Commerce, Housing Division.

The HVC program provides continuous rental assistance for very low-income families, elderly persons and persons with disabilities.

The HCV program gives individuals and families the opportunity to choose their own rental home within the community of their choice, subject to program requirements.

Individuals and families receiving assistance pay approximately 30% of their adjusted monthly gross income for rent and utilities, subject to payment subsidy standards. As a family’s income changes, the portion of the family’s rent share may change

What is WIC? WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children which provides valuable nutrition and health information. WIC helps all types of families. If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent or legal guardian of a child under five years of age, you can apply for WIC. Learn how to make healthy life long nutrition and lifestyle choices.

WIC provides nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, referral services. The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services administers the statewide WIC Program.

Employment & Training

Description

Our Employment and Training office provides resources to services that assist you in starting or advancing your career.

Those resources include: Career Guidance Case Management On the Job Training Budgeting Assistance Job Search Instruction High School Equivalency Referral Occupational Skills Education Assistance

Do You Qualify? To qualify for the Employment and Training Program you must be at 100% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Certain types of income are not counted. Please check with Employment & Training staff.

How to Apply? You can apply for the Employment and Training Program at any time by filling out a Complete Application and returning the forms to District 6 HRDC at either our Lewistown Office or to one of the Case Managers when they are in your community.

Heating Assistance

Description

Heating Assistance provided through LIEAP.

What is LIEAP? Low Income Energy Assistance Program helps Low Income individuals and families reduce their home heating costs.

Who is eligible? Eligibility is based on your income and assets. You may not earn more than 60% of the state median income for households of up to 7 people. For households of 8 and over, you cannot make more than 150% of the federal poverty level. Income levels are available on the State of Montana website. You may apply whether you are a homeowner or a renter. Applications will be accepted during the heating season, which runs from October 1st through April 30th of each year.

How to Apply? To request an application, or for further information, contact the Lewistown office at 1-800-766-3018 or 535-7488. State of Montana website is also an excellent source for information on the Low Income Energy Assistance Program.

The following information is provided to assist you in the application process. Submitting an incomplete application or not submitting required documentation will only delay that process.

Documents you will need to include with your application:

Current heating bill. Current electric bill if different from heating bill. Income verification for ALL household members, regardless of age. Current statement for all resources listed in section 7 of the LIEAP application. Copy of photo ID for all household members or birth certificate for household members under 18 years of age that don't have a photo ID. Tips to help you submit a complete application:

You must list ALL household members regardless of age or relationship. You must provide income verification for ALL household members, regardless of age or relationship. You must provide statements for ALL open bank accounts of ALL household members, regardless of the balance, or usage of the account. ALL household members 16 years of age and older, must sign the application. ALL sections of the application must be complete. Energy Share of Montana provides one-time only assistance to homeowners and renters facing emergency heating needs.

Do You Qualify? Clients include "working poor" who do not qualify for government programs but are in need of assistance.
